Ole Hanson Beach Club in San Clemente is the epitome of an authentic Southern California beach experience. Wrapped in beautiful history and breathtaking ocean views, the famous coastal landmark makes for the perfect venue to hold a seaside wedding and other special events.
Primary construction of the Ole Hanson Beach Club dates back in 1928. The City initiated the repair of the two-story public facility with the building and adjoining public pool requiring structural rehabilitation. The process involved floor plan optimization, along with the addition of an elevator while altogether maintaining the historic architecture.
As the building and pool were exposed, there were several construction and code deficiencies uncovered. Some items which had to be restored and corrected included the structure’s double slab foundations. The first floor had insufficient footings that had to be redesigned and replaced.
Right below the existing pool was a secondary pool which likewise needed redesigning and entailed additional demolition to be performed. A substantial amount of damage was discovered throughout the building, as well as the parapet walls, under roof tiles, and on the second floor decks.
