Katie Lacock spent years baking for family & friends, and eventually made the decision to pursue her passion by opening a boutique bakery in 2012: Koocakes! Though she taught herself how to bake, she pursued an education in the culinary Arts and has received certification in Master Baker/Pastry. As the demand for custom specialty & wedding cakes, she pursued further training and hands on experience in the art & science of cake decorating and baking.
She made a huge move to Chicago to begin training with the L’Art du Gateau program at The French Pastry School. She had the opportunity to study under such elite Chefs as Sunny Lee, Nicholas Lodge, Joshua Johnson, Jacquy Pfeiffer, Sébastien Canonne M.O.F., and other renowned pastry & cake artisans. I graduated in 2013 from the L’Art du Gateau program with honors. She then moved back to Orange County from Chicago to get Koocakes running full-throttle.
