So, why would you want to even put together a website dedicated to your wedding? There are quite a few good reasons to have a website. There are many places to create wedding website. Some are free, others are paid. Let’s take a look of the pros and cons of each:
Free
Pros:
It’s Completely Free!!
They are very easy to build
Easy to access
Easy to find
Easy on the eyes
Cons:
There will probably be lots of ads on your new site
The domain name is typically very long. Ex: CindyAndSam2015.weddingpaperdivas.com
Most Important: YOU DON’T OWN THE DOMAIN NAME!!(more on this later)
Paid
Pros:
No Ads
Very easy to put together
Short, custom domain name to create a wedding website(Ex: CindyAndSam2015.com)
Much more flexible
Cons:
You have to shell out some bucks for them
So, when you create a wedding website using a free service, they truly mean free. A trade-off, however, is that you’ll probably get some ads emailed to you, and ads on your site. They’re typically very easy to build, manage, and you have tons of free templates to choose from. There’s lots of quality free wedding websites out there.
You can read an in-depth tutorial on creating a free wedding website on the weddingpaperdivas.com site. There’s lots of other great ones out there, such as www.mywedding.com, theknot.com, weddingwire.com, and more. I just find Wedding Paper Divas to be the easiest to use to create a wedding website, and they seem to have the least amount of ads, emails, etc.
Paid wedding sites
Of course, you’re gonna have to shell out some money if you want a true domain name that you actually own. These days, there’s plenty of places to get a site where you don’t have to know anything about programming, coding, or even computers. These sites are run on what is known as a Content Management System, or CMS. The most popular CMS is wordpress. OCWedding.org runs on wordpress, because it’s so easy to use! If you would like a more in-depth understanding on how web hosting makes it easy to create a wedding website, you can read about it here.
